A CHARTER ORDINANCE AMMENDING SECTION 3 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE No. 11, WARD BOUNDARY DESCRIPTIONS, OF THE CITY OF LOUISBURG, KANSAS WHICH PROVIDES FOR THE CREATION OF SEPARATE COUNCIL WARDS AND WARD BOUNDARIES PURSUANT TO THE POWERS VESTED UNDER ARTICLE 12, SECTION 5, OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF KANSAS.
WHEREAS, based on the 2010 US Census, the population of the City of Louisburg has grown to 4,315; and,
WHEREAS, the population within the existing wards have become disproportionate as follows:
Ward 1 616 14.31%
Ward 2 809 18.80%
Ward 3 1770 41.13%
Ward 4 1108 25.74%
Total 4,303 100.00%
WHEREAS, The Ward legal descriptions defined under Section 3 of Charter Ordinance No. 11 are hereby amended; and
WHEREAS, each ward shall be realigned to provide equal distribution of population as practical; and
WHEREAS, the next regular election is more than 90 days from the effective date of this ordinance; and
WHEREAS, by changing the boundaries of the Wards as provided for herein, the population of each Ward according to data provided from the 2010 US Census will be as follows:
Ward 1 1,071 24.82%
Ward 2 1,096 25.39%
Ward 3 1,081 25.05%
Ward 4 1,067 24.70%
Total 4,315 100.00%
NOW THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Louisburg, Kansas:
SECTION 1. That the boundaries of the Wards of the City of Louisburg, Kansas shall be amended as follows:
