All above ground and underground propane tanks and the use thereof are prohibited within the corporate limits of the City.

The restriction of propane tanks shall not apply to the following:

(a)   Tanks with a capacity of 20 pounds or less;

(b)   Standard size tanks used in the operation of petroleum powered vehicles, including recreational vehicles;

(c)   Standard sized heating tanks for use by construction companies for temporary installation shall be allowed only upon approval by the public officer. The public officer shall set the length of time for said use;

(d)   Residential and commercial heating tanks of more than 20 pounds capacity when approved by the Governing Body of the City of Louisburg, Kansas;

(e)   A commercial propane filling station and the necessary storage tanks which meet all other local, state, and federal requirements will be allowed.

Liquefied petroleum gases and L-P gases as used in this Article shall mean and include any material which is composed predominately of any of the following: hydrocarbons or mixtures of them; propane, propylene, butane (normal butane or isobutene) and butylenes.
