A CHARTER ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LOUISBURG, KANSAS AMENDING SECTION 3 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 5 OF THE CITY OF LOUISBURG, KANSAS EXEMPTING THE CITY OF LOUISBURG FROM CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 15-201 INSOFAR AS THE FIRST PARAGRAPH THEREOF RELATES TO THE OFFICE OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND MAYOR AND PROVIDING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF SECTION 3 OF CHARTER ORDINANCE NO. 5 BY PROVIDING WHICH COUNCILMAN ELECTED ON THE FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL, 1983, SHALL HAVE A TERM OF TWO YEARS.
Section 1. That the City of Louisburg, Kansas, a city of the third class, by virtue of the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to and hereby does exempt itself from and make inapplicable to it the provisions of paragraph I of K.S.A. 15-201, insofar as any portion thereof relates to the office of City Councilmen and mayor, and the time, method and manner of election of councilmen in said City.
Section 2. That Section 3 of C.O. No. 5 of the City of Louisburg shall be and is hereby amended as follows:
“Section 3. That there shall be elected on the first Tuesday in April, 1983, a mayor, one councilman for a term of two years and two councilmen for a term of three years.
The councilman elected at the general city election on the first Tuesday in April, 1983, and receiving the least number of votes of the councilmen elected at said election shall serve a term of two years and the other two councilmen receiving the larger number of votes of the councilmen elected at said election shall serve a term of three years.
