A CHARTER ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LOUISBURG, KANSAS, EXEMPTING THE CITY OF LOUISBURG FROM CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 15-201 INSOFAR AS THE FIRST PARAGRAPH THEREOF RELATES TO THE OFFICE OF CITY COUNCILMEN AND MAYOR AND PROVIDING VARIOUS SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT, INCLUDING PROVISIONS FOR THE TIME, METHOD, AND MANNER OF THE ELECTION OF COUNCILMEN AND MAYOR IN SAID CITY.

Section 1. That the City of Louisburg, Kansas, a city of the third class, by virtue of the power vested in it by Article 12, Section 5 of the constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to and does exempt itself from and make inapplicable to it the provisions of Paragraph I of K.S.A. 15-201, insofar as any portion thereof relates to the office of City Councilmen and mayor, and the time, method and manner of election of councilmen in said city.

Section 2. That there shall be elected on the first Tuesday in April of 1982, two councilmen for a term of two years.

Section 3. (Section 3 of C.O. No. 5 is amended by C.O. No. 7).

Section 4. That there shall be elected on the first Tuesday in April of 1984, two councilmen for a term of three years.

Section 5. That there shall be elected on the first Tuesday in April of 1985, a mayor and one councilman for a term of three years.

Section 6. That there shall be elected on the first Tuesday in April of 1986, two councilmen for a term of three years.

Section 7. That thereafter on the first Tuesday in April, 1987, two councilmen shall be elected for a term of three years.

Section 8. That thereafter on the first Tuesday in April, 1988, and each three years thereafter, one councilman and a mayor shall be elected for a term of three years.

Section 9. That thereafter on the first Tuesday in April, 1989, and each three years thereafter, two councilmen shall be elected for a term of three years.

Section 10. That thereafter on the first Tuesday in April, 1990, and each three years thereafter, two councilmen shall be elected for a term of three years.
